Lampedusa imitatrix
 Lampedusa imitatrix (Boettger, 1879) - Mtaħleb, Malta
 

The genus Lampedusa is endemic to the Maltese Islands and consists of two species, both of which are restricted in occurrence and live solely in highly calcareous habitats. The long and thin shell is characteristic of the family Clausiliidae to which these snails belong. The picture above shows the species a group of Lampedusa imitatrix individuals aestivating in Mtahleb.

Another clausiliid endemic, Muticaria macrostoma (pictured below), is highly variable in shape (though anatomically consistent), and four main varieties have been recognized. The most common form is the one shown in the picture.
